THE NUCLEUS OF CREATIVITY

"To receive, to conceive, and to deliver, it's natural." - Yogi Bhajan, 1985

The receive part is uplinking to the the Creative Flow; the public access cosmic creativity channel. After that comes the conceive part where what you pull in takes root; like what David Lynch means when he gets fragments of ideas and then those fragments attract more fragments to make a whole. Steve Jobs said that creativity is just connecting things. In other words, when the ideas come, you have to make sense of them in some manner and allow them to implant, connect and synthesize.  "When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That's because they were able to connect experiences they've had and synthesize new things." 

The word conceive basically means "to form" but has its origins in the old French conceivre which comes from the Latin word concipere "to take fully or to take in". One can take in an idea or an opinion in the mind but can also conceive a child in the body. A woman receives, conceives and delivers in order to give birth to a child and this great creative act is no different than any other creative enterprise. Take note that to conceive implies that the idea or opinion comes from elsewhere.

EA (ah) means come, D means the d-day, when you make it ..and I relate to D, the destiny, come my destiny. ... when you catch the destiny. Idea is something, which is beyond you and which you have grabbed. That's called idea, I-d-ea. The sound of word idea is very simple sound. And what is that idea? That I am the part of the Infinity. Think, feel, do everything in that shape and form, you will be happiest person".- Yogi Bhajan, 1978

According to Yogi Bhajan, the word IDEA is something that you have grabbed from somewhere beyond you, is part of infinity and therefore belongs to everyone. It's your job to prime the pump, open the channels and become aware enough to recognize (by transforming thought wave patterns into ideas) what is out there that can be useful to you. That realization or recognition of an idea's usefulness is the "conceive" in this equation AND conception is a creative person's natural gift but it can be strengthened whether you consider yourself "creative" or not.
