"...Ultimately your life depends upon your deliverance. What you deliver, that is what you are. Professionally, personally, individually and systematically. If you cannot deliver goods, you got to go hungry." - Yogi Bhajan

In our efforts to move forward, to bring a project to fruition, to see an idea manifest, make good on a promise, we have to deliver. All the intentions in the world don't mean anything until you develop your will to ACT. The dictionary definition of willpower is energetic determination and the will can and must be developed to eclipse the obstacles and bad habits that get in the way of our conscious efforts. How can we have the creative life we want when we can't deliver? Our deliverance determines what we are and how the world will see us, good or bad. Sometimes we lose steam or we don't know the sequence of steps to take. We all know that subconscious patterns can get in the way of our happiness and success yet we don't want to do the work necessary to eliminate them.

Chogyam Trungpa said that habit was formed from memory and that it was easier to go back to the past and repeat old patterns than to start fresh and "fight our way through foreign territory". It takes hard work and determination to take control of the mind. It's easier to ignore the self than to face the self. A creative person starts out armed to fight through foreign territory at all costs...but sometimes they need to bump it up a notch in order to keep up.

"Everything in life you do, you are not concentrating on self rather you are an escapist you don't want to concentrate on self, you don't want to face to self, you don't want to talk to self, you don't want to befriend yourself and you do everything else. Keep busy and then by habit you have no habit to relate to self and then you are exploited, then you are miserable, then you don't have self-esteem, you don't have self-respect, you don't know what you are, who you are, why you are." - Yogi Bhajan

Conceive, flourish, and deliver. Generate, organize and deliver. No matter how you look at it, the creative power within you has a formula which must be followed and the end result is either delivery or destruction. Remember what Beethoven said? "Don't only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets; art deserves that, for it and knowledge can raise man to the Divine."

It's fighting through that foreign territory, or forcing your way into it's secrets that takes you to self-realization. That's why making art is a spiritual pursuit. And in order to bring projects and intentions to completion - to deliver - as well as drive to be self-realized, you need to develop your willpower.

"You are what your deep, driving desire is. As your deep, driving desire is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny." -   Upanishads, 800 BCE
